LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — The Lexington Park Business Association (LexBA) proudly announces its annual Holly Days community event taking place for the first time at the Lexington Park Library on December 7-8. This year’s two-day event features a holiday tree and Menorah lighting on Saturday evening followed by a full afternoon of activities on Sunday in and surrounding the library. Activities include Selfies With Santa, arts and crafts, holiday shopping, and games for all ages. Holly Days is free and open to the public.

Saturday night’s lighting is sponsored by Millison Management with assistance from the Bay District Fire Department and the Lexington Park Rotary Club whose members will serve free hot chocolate to one and all. The community is invited to gather on the library grounds starting at 6:30 p.m. for the lighting at 7:30 p.m. Dress warmly!

Sunday’s Extravaganza will kick off at 1:00 p.m. when the library opens to the public.

Games for kids of all ages will be located on the lawn featuring corn hole and Jenga for fun and boxing and rowing equipment with volunteers from SMC Economic Development, Knowledge Boxing and Row House to test your skill and stamina. The SMC Community Development Corporation will provide information about its community garden, Great Mills Rd. clean up and many other activities. Food vendors will also be onsite.

Selfies With Santa, sponsored by Shore United Bank, will be located in the lobby. Santa, who looks remarkably like Commissioner Scott Ostrow, will be accompanied by the gracious Mrs. Claus, who bears a strong resemblance to Jennifer Ostrow! His trusty Chief Elf, who must be related to the St. Mary’s County Library Director Michael Blackwell, will be there to help with family photos and treats!

You can also shop for your family and friends at our Holiday Market! Local craft vendors will sell their beautifully handmade items inside the library. Items will include jewelry, ornaments, holiday decor and much more! St. Maries Choral Arts quartet, dressed in their finest renaissance garb, will stroll and sing throughout the event. And, if that wasn’t enough holiday joy, in the soon-to-be maker space at the library, three local artists affiliated with the St. Mary’s County Arts Council will assist children with unique make-and-take crafts to keep.

To round out the holiday, a Hanukkah display from Temple Beth Israel and a Kwanzaa display from Southern Maryland Folklife Center and Multicultural Programming at St. Mary’s College of Maryland will be showcased in the lobby. Additionally, the SMC Sheriff’s Office will collect winter coats for children that day. We hope you will bring one or more child-sized coats to donate.

LexBA thanks the financial sponsors of this year’s Tree Lighting and Holly Days Extravaganza including Millison Management, Shore United Bank, Cedar Point Federal Credit Union, DevonShire a Perfect Events Company, Avian LLC and SMC Economic Development as well as our many contributors, vendors and volunteers.
