LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A Lexington Park woman was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after deputies said she was involved in a disturbance outside a home in the Valley Estates neighborhood.

Shaniya Curshawn Mason, 25, of Lexington Park, was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting or interfering with arrest following the June 17, 2026, incident.

According to charging documents, a St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to the 22000 block of Valley Estates Drive in Lexington Park to assist with an ongoing investigation unrelated to Mason’s case.

When the deputy arrived, Mason was allegedly arguing with an unknown person. Charging documents state Mason then approached the person while threatening to hit him.

The deputy attempted to separate both parties to de-escalate the situation, but charging documents state they did not comply with verbal commands.

As the argument continued, Mason allegedly used both arms to shove the person. The deputy then took control of Mason’s right arm to move her away from the altercation.

Charging documents state Mason was told she was under arrest, then pulled away and turned her body to prevent the arrest. The deputy reported gaining control of Mason while hand restraints were being placed on her.

Multiple neighbors had approached Mason and deputies while the incident was happening, according to charging documents.

The alleged assault victim refused to identify himself and did not cooperate with the investigation.

Mason was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center. Court records show she was released on recognizance June 18.

A trial is set for July 28 in St. Mary’s County District Court.
