On March 22, at approximately 12:22 a.m., Trooper W. Scarlett was on routine patrol on southbound Route 5, north of Billingsley Road when he observed a blue Ford Escape which did not have working tag lights.
Trooper Scarlett stopped the vehicle, made contact with the driver, Brittany Danielle Girona, 21of Mechanicsville, and her passenger Brittany Renee Salazar, 20 of Waldorf, when he smelled an odor of marijuana.
Girona and Salazar were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
