OFFICIAL POLICE RELEASE
On Sept. 9 at 9:31 p.m., Charles County Sheriffโs officers and Charles County firefighters responded to 2179 Marshall Hall Road in Bryans Road for a reported house fire.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and discovered a single family, one story house with heavy fire in the front living room area. While inside the house, firefighters discovered the body of a deceased person. The deceased was severely burned and was unable to be identified.
A joint investigation is being conducted between the Fire Marshalโs office and the Sheriffโs Office Criminal Investigations Division. The deceased was transported to Baltimore for an autopsy and the investigation will continue.ย
OFFICIAL FIRE MARSHALL RELEASE:
Deputy State Fire Marshals are continuing with their investigation into the cause of a one-alarm fire that claimed the life of a 62-year-old man.
The September 9, 10:03 p.m. house fire located in the 2100 block of Marshall Hall Road was reported to the Charles County Emergency Operations Center by a passerby. When firefighters from Bryans Road, Potomac Heights, Marbury, Accokeek and Indian Head arrived they found flames venting through the front window and roof of the one-story home. A deceased male was later found on the dining room floor.
Deputy State Fire Marshals and investigators with the Charles County Sheriffโs Office have determined the origin of the fire to be in the living room. It is believed the man lived alone. Deputy State Fire Marshals have determined there were no smoke alarms in the home.
The body has been sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore where a forensic examination will be conducted to identify the deceased and to determine the cause of death.
The cause for the fire remains under investigation.
