American Spirit Pageants is proud to announce that Sierra Marie Crooks, 18 of La Plata, MD recently participated in its inaugural National American Spirit Pageant at the Waterfront Convention Center in Bettendorf, Iowa in December of 2010. Miss Crooks entered the National Competition as the reigning Miss Teen Maryland Spirit 2011.
Miss Crooks has been an exceptional asset to the American Spirit Pageants by her many efforts to better her community by involving herself in Best Buddies, Key Club, Children’s Miracle Network, Happy Helpers for the Homeless, Susan G Komen for the Cure, Relay for Life, Beyond Beauty for Girls, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Toys for Tots, March of Dimes and Darkness to Light.
Although the National Title of Miss Teen American Spirit 2011 was awarded to Miss Teen Pennsylvania Spirit, Miss Crooks was first runner up in the competition and was judged by her fellow contestants as Miss Teen Congeniality in her Division.
The pageant attracted contestants from all over the country in four separate Divisions – “Miss Teen”, “Miss”, “Ms.” and “Mrs.” American Spirit Pageants truly considers “inner beauty” more important as “outer beauty”. One of the things that makes the Pageant unique is that it is the only national pageant wherein fundraising is actually a judged component in the competition. This year funds raised by the contestants went to the HAVlife Foundation, which supports “at risk” children, giving them opportunities to participate in the arts and athletics — programs in which they would otherwise be unable to take part.
The American Spirit Pageants program is a wonderful way for women to learn more about themselves and others, make new friends, build self confidence, gain greater social awareness and give back to the community. The pageant’s mission is to emulate and epitomize the true “American Spirit,” focusing on the never-say-die attitude that has made our country so great. It is about character, courage, conviction, charity and compassion.
