At 11:03 p.m. June 30, a 17-year-old was killed in a crash at Walnut Creek Road in Huntingtown.

The Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s Office reports David M. Clark, 19 of Churchton, was operating a 2000 Subaru under the influence of alcohol and at a high rate of speed when he lost control on Walnut Creek Road near Shellyโ€™s Crossing in Huntingtown.

Clark was heading west when the car left the roadway and struck the edge of a driveway becoming airborne, then slid across the roadway, struck a curb and came to rest in a ditch.

The left rear passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, 17-year-old Kevin Stavely of Sunderland, was ejected out the rear windshield.ย  He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Clark along with a third passenger in the vehicle, 19-year-old Craig M. Gleason of Dunkirk, were both wearing seatbelts and were not injured in the crash.ย 

Clark was charged with homicide by motor vehicle while under the influence in addition to ten other charges including driving under the influence and failure to reduce speed to avoid collision.

His bond was set at $250,000.ย  The investigation is ongoing by members of the Crash Reconstruction Unit. DFC Christopher Childress, other members of the Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s Office and members of the Maryland State Police Prince Frederick Barrack responded to the crash.
