On January 23, 2014 Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a Mechanicsville address for the 911 call of a “subject not breathing”. The victim was located on the floor of the home and was pronounced dead. Units from various divisions of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded and secured the scene. CID detectives were accompanied by detectives from Vice/Narcotics and the investigation continued.
While on the scene, investigators encountered several possible witnesses. One of the witnesses included Lawrence Alvin Hoffman, Jr. (Age 19 of Hollywood). Hoffman was found to be in possession of numerous Alprazolam tablets which were in a prescription bottle that belonged to the deceased. Also recovered from Hoffman’s vehicle was a straw and scale with CDS residue.
Hoffman was arrested and charged accordingly and the investigation into the cause of death continues.
