At approximately 8:24 p.m., On Dec. 5 Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the parking lot of St. Charles Towne Center at 11110 Mall Circle in Waldorf for the report of a group of people about to fight.
Investigation revealed a 19-year-old Waldorf man and Joseph Larnell Pierson, 23, of La Plata were involved in an argument when Pierson struck the other man with a tire iron.
Pierson then fled the scene in a red Pontiac Grand Am. Shortly thereafter, officers located the vehicle leaving the parking lot of the mall and conducted a traffic stop. Officers arrested Pierson and charged him with first- and second-degree assault.
He was released from the Charles County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond. Officer J. Timko investigated.
