The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office reported that on Thursday, July 11, at approximately 8:56 p.m., deputies responded to Plaza Azteca in Lexington Park, for a report of someone lying on the ground, in the outside dining area.
Deputy L. Johnson made contact with the restaurant’s owner who advised the suspect, identified as Steven Douglas Whitfield, 35 of Lexington Park, had not paid his bar tab and was now lying on the ground in the outside dining area of the restaurant.
Johnson was able to wake Whitfield, who rectified his outstanding bill. However, when served with a notice not to trespass, as requested by the owner of the restaurant, Whitfield became argumentative. Whitfield then attempted to walk past Johnson and re-enter the restaurant.
Whitfield’s actions drew the attention of patrons, causing a disruption. Whitfield was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing.
