St. Mary’s County Deputy Cole responded on May 15 to Lowe’s Store located on Worth Avenue in California, for a reported theft. A manager watched, as suspect Darvin Wynn York Jr., 29, of California, removed a Kobalt tool set valued at $199.00 from a shelf and leave the store without paying. The manager stopped York and returned to the store to wait for police.
York was placed under arrest by Deputy Cole and a search of the suspect was conducted. Deputy Cole recovered five pills, (suspected oxycodone), inside the suspect’s wallet. There was also an outstanding warrant for York’s arrest on charges of credit card fraud and a criminal summons for 2nd Degree Assault. York was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and charged with Theft under $1,000 and Possession Controlled Dangerous Substance – Not Marijuana.
