On Sunday, August 30 at approximately 2:30 p.m., police and EMS personnel responded to Abell’s Wharf in Leonardtown, for the reported drowning.
Alejandro Bardales Ortiz, 39 of Leonardtown, waded into the water and disappeared. He was found in approximately 6 feet of water not breathing by a friend and other people in the area, who then started CPR.
He was pronounced dead at St. Mary’s Hospital.
St. Mary’s County BCI detectives are investigating and there is no indication of foul play.
