
LEONARDTOWN, Md. — A man was found dead in a swimming pool Wednesday morning at a residence in Leonardtown, and the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is now conducting a death investigation.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 9:25 a.m., Aug. 26, 2026, to a home on Solitude Lane, near Breton Beach Road, for a reported drowning.
Initial information indicated a caller who had gone outside to cut the grass looked toward the pool and saw a man lying face down in the water.
The caller reported being unable to swim and could not remove the man from the pool. Dispatch information indicated the man may have been in the water since sometime Tuesday night.
Fire and EMS personnel responded to the residence and confirmed the man, described as approximately 60 years old, was deceased.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is handling the death investigation.
At this time, investigators have not identified anything suspicious surrounding the death.
