At 4:29 p.m. Sept. 7, Charles County Sheriffโ€™s officers responded to the Holiday Inn located at 45 Saint Patrickโ€™s Drive in Waldorf for the report of an assault.

Investigation revealed Francis Orlando Briscoe, 39, of Indian Head was sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot when began acting disorderly.

When an employee, a 49-year-old woman, asked Briscoe to leave the property, he yelled and cursed at her. Briscoe threatened her and began to drive away. He stopped approximately 50 feet away, put his vehicle in reverse and sped backward toward the woman.

The vehicle nearly struck the woman but the hotel doorman pulled her to safety. Briscoe continued yelling for several minutes before leaving the parking lot at a high rate of speed.

Officers later located Briscoe and arrested him without incident. He was charged with first-degree assault and reckless endangerment. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Officer J. Long investigated.
