On Friday evening, December 1, a Lexington Park man, aged 54, reportedly went to check on his boat around 11 pm. He never returned.
The man’s wife reported him missing at 11:15 a.m. Saturday morning, Lt. Commander Ed Zeigler, told The Bay Net.
The Navy was out in boats searching for the man for two days, along with other responders, Zeigler confirmed. “His boat is secured and his car was in the parking lot with keys still in it,” Zeigler told The Bay Net. The matter is now a NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) investigation, a DC based federal department.
It is unclear whether officials consider the man to be missing in the area, as they are no longer looking for him. “The search has been called off,” Zeigler said Tuesday. When asked for a report of the incident, he told The Bay Net, “There is no report.”
One source identified the missing man to The Bay Net as 54 year old John Dixon, of Lexington Park. The Navy would not confirm the identity on Tuesday.
