At 1:06 p.m. on Dec. 14, units from the Calvert County Sheriffโs Office and the Maryland State Police Barrack โUโ were dispatched to Hardesty Road in Huntingtown for a reported burglary in progress.ย
The victim advised that he returned home and found a strange vehicle in his driveway.ย He confronted aย man standing beside the vehicle.ย The man stated that his vehicle had run out of gas and that he was waiting for assistance. Theย resident observed that the vehicleโs engine was running and questioned theย man who stated, โI was wondering that, also.โย
The man returning homeย advised he could hear the burglar alarm going off inside his residence.ย He told the man in his drivewayย that he was going to call 9-1-1, at which point theย man got into his vehicle and swiftly backed out of the driveway, running over some shrubbery.ย
The resident proceeded toward his home and observed a second maleย walking out of his garage with a cooler full of liquor bottles.ย The burglarย dropped the cooler and ran toward the rear of the home, fleeing into the woods.ย
Police units from the Calvert County Sheriffโs Office and the Maryland State Police Barrack โUโ immediately canvassed the area and located a male, fitting the description given by the victim.ย The victim also provided a tag number to the vehicle that was in his driveway and another suspect was located.ย This case is still under investigation by Det. Christopher Parsons of the CIT Division and charges are pending.
