During the early morning hours on May 24, deputies responded to a residence in Lexington Park after a victim reported having been sexually assaulted.
Detective R. Merritt from the Criminal Investigations Division subsequently responded and assumed the investigation.
The suspect was identified as Michael Jahrome Powell, black male, age 19, with a cast on one of his arms.
Powell may have changed his appearance and may or may not still have the cast on his arm.
Warrants charging Powell with first degree rape and second degree assault are on file with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.
Anyone with information regarding the location of Powell is asked to call the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office at 301-475-8008, (9 1 1 if necessary), or their local law enforcement agency.
Do not approach Powell and call law enforcement.
