On March 27, 2015, Deputy Potter responded to the St. John’s School located on St. John’s Road in Hollywood, for the report of a suspicious male on the swing in the playground.
Deputy Potter located the male subject identified as Steven Thomas Miller, 37 of Great Mills, on the swing. Miller refused to answer Deputy Potter and would only sit on the swing while staring into space.
The school principal had told Miller to leave several times prior to calling police and he refused. As a result, the school was placed on lock-down.
Deputy Potter advised Miller to leave or he would be arrested. Miller ignored Deputy Potter and refused to get off of the swing. Deputy Potter grabbed Miller’s arm in an attempt to take him into custody at which time he resisted. After a brief struggle with multiple deputies, Miller was taken into custody.
Miller was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and charged with trespass – private property, resisting arrest, disruption of school activities.
