Demetrius Maurice Gibbs
On Aug. 24 at 3:30 a.m., witnesses observed three males attempting to steal a tire from a parked car in the 500 block of University Drive in Waldorf. The witnesses confronted the suspects who fled upon being detected.
Cpl. J. Cooney and Officer J. Bottorf responded and located three suspects in the parking lot of a nearby business on Billingsley Road. The males were located in their car which had a flat tire. They were positively identified as the three subjects attempting to steal the tires. In addition, the driver of the car, Demetrius Maurice Gibbs, 23, of Waldorf, was found to be impaired.
He was arrested and charged with attempted theft and driving under the influence. The other males, both juveniles, were charged with attempted theft.
