Man assaults DOC employee then spits on his face

Leonardtown, MD— 11-14-2015 – Assault – Deputy K. Krum responded to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, for the report of an assault on correctional staff. 

Correctional Officer M. Graves asked the suspect several times to wear his shirt properly. The suspect, Tyler Patrick Springer, age 22, of Leonardtown, intentionally and actively resisted.

Correctional Officer Graves made several attempts to gain control of Springer and a physical struggle ensued. Subsequently, Springer intentionally struck Correctional Officer Graves with a closed fist and then spit on his face.

Springer was charged with Second Degree Assault on a DOC Employee.
