LEXINGTON PARK, Md. โ As of Thursday morning at roughly 10 a.m., the Maryland Department of Health(MDH) is confirming a total of 11,572 cases of the novel coronavirus(COVID-19) across the state of Maryland, while there are going to be more results that are presumably still waiting to be confirmed.
This new total means there are 788 newly confirmed cases in the past 24 hours.

Of the confirmed cases, over 2,612 people have ever been hospitalized, and 161 of those were recorded in the past day.
736 previously infected people have been released from their isolation according to MDH, none of which have been recorded in the past day.ย
33 people in the state have died from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the stateโs death toll unfortunately up to 425.
Negative test results also grew, with at least 2,378 negative confirmations in the past day, bring that total to 50,437.
At this time, there are at least 561 officially confirmed cases in the Southern Maryland region. Charles County saw their previously confirmed total of 327 cases rise to 337. In Calvert County, MDH has confirmed at least six more official cases overnight, bringing their total up to 109.
St. Maryโs County now counts cases on a rolling basis, and records from the county show a total of 115 cases as of 11 a.m., which is no increase in cases from Thursday’s update.

A majority of the positive cases across the state are still found in Montgomery County and Prince George’s County. PG County has the most cases of any county in the state, with an overnight increase of at least 244 cases bringing the total to 2,966.
Since yesterday, Montgomery County saw an increase of at least 147 newly recorded cases, bringing their total to at least 2,280.
Anne Arundel County has also confirmed 70 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing their official total to 966.
On April 16, the total number of confirmed cases by the Maryland Department of Health was at least 10,801. As of April 17, that recorded number is at least 10,801, showing over a 7.2% increase across the state in the past 24 hours.ย
