Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene

WASHINGTON — An Edgewater man pleaded guilty Dec. 18, 2025, in federal court to making a series of anonymous, threatening phone calls targeting Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene over a span of more than a year, federal prosecutors announced.

Seth Jason, 64, admitted in U.S. District Court to one count of interstate communications with a threat to kidnap or injure and one count of anonymous telecommunications harassment, according to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro and U.S. Capitol Police Chief Michael Sullivan.

Authorities said Jason made at least eight threatening calls to Greene’s congressional office between October 2023 and January 2025, repeatedly targeting the Georgia Republican, her family and her staff. Prosecutors said the threats intensified over time and included explicit language about killing the lawmaker.

Two of the most serious calls coincided with the presidential inauguration. On Jan. 8, 2025, Jason allegedly left a voicemail stating Greene would not “see the inaugural” and that she, her family and staff would be dead. Less than two weeks later, on Jan. 21, he left another message saying Greene and her staff were “as good as dead,” warning them to prepare their wills and threatening gun violence.

Investigators determined that Jason placed all of the calls while working inside the headquarters of Voice of America in Washington, D.C., where he was employed at the time. He is no longer a VOA employee.

“No one should have to live in fear wondering if violent threats will be carried out,” Pirro said in a statement, adding that the guilty plea underscores the government’s commitment to aggressively pursue such cases.

U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan scheduled sentencing for June 18, 2026. Jason faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison on the interstate threats charge and up to two years on the telecommunications harassment count. A judge will determine the final sentence after considering federal sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Capitol Police and the Department of State Office of Inspector General. Prosecutors Brendan Horan and Travis Wolf are handling the case.
