The suspect wanted in the shooting of a 17 year-old Frederick man at a Frederick hotel on May 3 was arrested in York, Pennsylvania shortly after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Trotez J. Leonard, 23, of the 100-block of Pennsylvania Ave, Frederick, Maryland was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant. He is charged with attempted first degree murder, first degree assault, attempted second degree murder, handgun used in the commission of a violent crime and felon in possession of a handgun.

A warrant was filed for Trotez Leonard in connection with the shooting of 17 year-old Devon Harris at the Days Inn on Buckeystown Pike.ย  He is currently being held at York County Prison awaiting an extradition hearing.

Maryland State Police investigators had circulated photographs of the 23-year-old suspect Trotez Leonard throughout the Frederick area and into surrounding jurisdictions of Maryland and Pennsylvania.ย ย  Investigators continued to develop leads since the shooting on May 3rd , and worked closely with the U.S. Marshals Service in an attempt to apprehend Leonard.

Shortly after 2:30 a.m., members of the York (PA) Police Department, US. Marshals Service and Maryland State Police took Leonard into custody without incident.

The arrest occurred after authorities were lead to the Motel 6 on Arsenal Road in York after receiving an anonymous tip from a citizen who had recognized Leonard from one of the photographs.
