Maryland State Police Seize 55 Grams Of Suspected Cocaine During Solomons Traffic Stop

SOLOMONS, Md. — A Lexington Park man is facing felony drug charges after a Maryland State Police trooper allegedly discovered approximately 55 grams of suspected cocaine and a suspected oxycodone pill during a traffic stop in Solomons, according to court documents.

Deontre Dwayne Bradshaw, 39, of Lexington Park, was charged in the District Court for Calvert County with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis and one count of possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance. Court records show the distribution charge is a felony.

According to charging documents, the incident occurred at approximately 10:45 a.m. July 2, 2026, while a trooper was conducting speed enforcement on Creston Lane facing southbound Maryland Route 4 in Solomons.

The trooper reported observing a dark-colored Toyota Corolla traveling 62 mph in a posted 45 mph zone. After obtaining the speed using a ProLaser device, the trooper initiated a traffic stop and identified Bradshaw as the vehicle’s sole occupant.

According to the statement of probable cause, the trooper observed what were described as criminal indicators during the stop and requested a Calvert County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit. An open-air scan of the vehicle resulted in a positive alert, providing probable cause to search the vehicle, investigators alleged.

During the search, authorities reported recovering a plastic bag containing one round white pill suspected to be oxycodone hydrochloride from the vehicle’s center console and a plastic bag containing a large quantity of a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine from a driver’s-side compartment.

The charging documents state the suspected cocaine weighed approximately 1.94 ounces (about 55 grams). Based on the trooper’s training and experience, investigators alleged the quantity exceeded what would typically be considered for personal use and supported the charge of possession with intent to distribute.

Authorities also reported locating one cell phone inside the vehicle. During a search incident to arrest, troopers recovered a second cell phone and $102 in cash from Bradshaw’s person. He was placed under arrest at approximately 11:40 a.m., according to court documents.

District Court records show Bradshaw was initially held without bond following his July 2 arrest. During a bail review hearing on July 6, 2026, Judge Michelle R. Saunders set bail at a $5,000 percentage bond, which was subsequently posted through a $500 cash payment. Bradshaw is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 5, 2026, at Calvert District Court.
