Community Rallies Around 4-Year-Old Easton Morgan After Life-Threatening Lawn Tractor Accident

POMFRET, Md. — A Southern Maryland family is receiving an outpouring of support as 4-year-old Easton Morgan continues recovering from life-threatening injuries suffered in a lawn tractor accident in Pomfret.

Easton was seriously injured July 31 after becoming trapped beneath a lawn tractor in the 4400 block of Camelot Drive.

Emergency crews were dispatched around 4:27 p.m. Initial information indicated Easton had been running when he slipped on the grass and slid beneath the tractor as it was turning. The tractor had been shut off before first responders arrived.

Crews used lifting equipment to free him shortly before 4:55 p.m. Emergency personnel reported that he suffered a severe laceration to his abdominal area. Maryland State Police Aviation Command’s Trooper 7 then transported him to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore for treatment.

Easton is a Hughesville Little League player, and his family is part of the league community. Hughesville Little League recently shared a message on Facebook asking the community to support Easton and his family as he continues his recovery.

“One of our HLL players, Easton, is recovering from a devastating accident, and we’re asking our Hughesville Little League community to come together and show his family some love and support,” the organization wrote.

Easton’s mother, C.J., is also part of the Little League community and coached Tee Ball and Majors Softball this past spring, according to the league.

A GoFundMe organized by Gerald Young has been established to help Easton and his family as they navigate his recovery.

According to the fundraiser, donations will help with medical bills not covered by insurance, specialized trauma care and surgeries, travel costs for hospital visits, time away from work so Easton’s parents can remain by his side and any long-term rehabilitation he may need.

As of Tuesday, Aug. 11, the fundraiser had raised $5,525 from 62 donations toward a $45,000 goal.

Hughesville Little League is also encouraging those who cannot donate to share the fundraiser and keep Easton and his family in their thoughts and prayers.
