LARGO, Md. — Two Maryland State troopers are being recognized after helping save a woman who suffered a medical emergency at the Largo Motor Vehicle Administration office.
On Aug. 13, Trooper C. Williams and Sgt. S. Barlow were working an overtime assignment at the Largo MVA when the woman experienced a medical emergency.
The troopers immediately began CPR and applied an automated external defibrillator.
Their efforts helped restore the woman’s heartbeat before local EMS crews arrived and transported her to a hospital.
In a letter recognizing the troopers, the branch manager praised their response.
“Their actions exemplify the very best of law enforcement and public service,” the manager wrote. “They went above and beyond their normal duties, demonstrating not only exceptional skill and professionalism, but also genuine compassion and concern for the life of a fellow Maryland resident.”
The letter continued, “Because of their prompt response and willingness to act without hesitation, a life was saved. That is an extraordinary accomplishment and one that deserves to be recognized and celebrated.”
Recently, the woman, identified by Maryland State Police as Ms. Sheryl, returned to the MVA while Trooper Williams was working and was able to thank him personally for the role he and Sgt. Barlow played in saving her life.
Maryland State Police reported that she is doing well and continuing to recover.
