BATTLE LAKE, Minn. — A Baltimore woman was arrested in Minnesota after authorities reported she tried to drown her 15-year-old daughter during a domestic altercation on West Battle Lake.
Jasmine Laws, 35, of Baltimore, Maryland, was arrested July 5, 2026, after the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic assault on West Battle Lake, northeast of the city of Battle Lake, at approximately 4:19 p.m.
Authorities reported the initial call indicated Laws attempted to drown her 15-year-old daughter during the altercation.
Laws was arrested on charges of second-degree attempted murder, domestic assault and domestic assault by strangulation, according to reports citing the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.
The teen was transported to Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office reported the case remains under investigation. The agency was assisted by the Battle Lake Police Department, Battle Lake Rescue and Henning Ambulance.
