BALTIMORE, Md. — Maryland has approved another nearly $30 million for renovations at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, pushing the total value of approved construction packages to nearly $160 million as work continues on the iconic ballpark.
The Maryland Board of Public Works approved a $29.95 million construction contract during its June 3 meeting, marking the sixth major construction package awarded as part of the state’s long-term investment in Camden Yards.
The latest approval is part of a larger renovation effort tied to the Orioles’ 30-year lease agreement with the state and a broader $600 million authorization for stadium improvements.
Orioles Lease Opened The Door To Major Upgrades
The current renovation effort traces back to September 2023, when the Orioles, the State of Maryland and the Maryland Stadium Authority announced a new 30-year lease agreement that keeps the team at Camden Yards through at least 2053.
A few months later, on Dec. 18, 2023, the Board of Public Works approved the lease agreement, allowing the Maryland Stadium Authority to begin accessing up to $600 million in state-authorized funding for stadium improvements. Approximately $305 million has been issued to support the ongoing renovation program.
The agreement secured the Orioles’ long-term future in Baltimore while paving the way for the largest investment in Camden Yards since the stadium opened in 1992.
What Fans Are Already Seeing
By the start of the 2026 season, many of the first-phase improvements were already complete.
Gov. Wes Moore joined Comptroller Brooke Lierman , Treasurer Dereck Davis and Orioles ownership on Opening Day to unveil $135 million in completed upgrades — the most significant improvements made to the ballpark since it opened more than three decades ago.
The work included a new larger videoboard, upgraded sound system, renovated club level spaces, a new premium seating area and additional infrastructure improvements throughout the stadium.
The new center-field videoboard is two and a half times larger than its predecessor and ranks among the largest in Major League Baseball. The project also added more than 1,100 feet of ribbon board displays and millions of new 4K-resolution pixels throughout the ballpark.
A new premium club behind home plate now occupies the former press box footprint and includes VIP parking, a private entrance and upscale food and beverage offerings. Fans can learn more at Orioles.com/premiumclub.
The club level also received updated decor, new lighting, new furniture, an expanded Orioles Hall of Fame exhibit, a new team store and additional bar areas.
Steel, Sprinklers And Behind-the-Scenes Improvements
The June 3 approval, known as GMP Package No. 6, is the latest in a series of Guaranteed Maximum Price contracts awarded to Gilbane-Warren Builds, a Joint Venture serving as construction manager for the project. Populous, the original Oriole Park architect, continues as architect on the project.
The package includes structural steel, miscellaneous metals, doors and hardware, fire sprinkler systems, mechanical and electrical work and fire alarm systems — critical infrastructure improvements designed to support the ballpark for decades to come.
Board members approved the contract without discussion.
A $160 Million Renovation, One Package At A Time
The Camden Yards renovation has been built through a series of construction packages approved by the Board of Public Works. Project costs currently include:
- Pre-construction services: $1,097,444
- GMP Package No. 1: $22,744,395.36
- GMP Package No. 2: $59,778,808.66

- GMP Package No. 6: $29,953,608
Total approved project cost: $159,768,049.69
The contract runs through October 2028 and is funded through Series 2025 bonds issued by the Maryland Stadium Authority.
More Work Ahead
The latest approval represents the sixth of several anticipated construction packages expected as the broader renovation effort continues.
The Maryland Stadium Authority plans to begin additional phases of work following the conclusion of the 2026 Orioles season, with future project details expected to be announced in the coming months.
Oriole Park at Camden Yards opened April 6, 1992, and is widely credited with launching the retro-ballpark movement that reshaped Major League Baseball stadium design across the country. More than three decades later, Maryland continues to invest heavily in keeping the ballpark among the premier venues in professional sports.
