On June 15, 2011, Cpl Patrick H. Handy responded to a residence in Mechanicsville for a controlled dangerous substance complaint. Upon arrival, Cpl Handy spoke with the complainants and then located Stephanie J. Rice 21 years old of Mechanicsville in a residential bathroom in possession of drug paraphernalia and Tramadol. Cpl Handy also recovered Alprazolam, Eszopilone and Gabapantin which was found in a purse belonging to Rice. During the arrest, Stephanie J. Rice struggled with Cpl Handy and was subdued. Rice was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (4 counts), possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
