Collins Bailey, born and raised here in Southern Maryland believes that those in office, charged with running this country are out of control and wants to do something about it.

โ€œOur Founding Fathers pledged the service of their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to support righteous principles of government. What are we willing to invest to restore the vision of our Founding Fathers, a Constitutional Republic?โ€ said Bailey in a recent interview.

Bailey believes that spending is way out of control. He believes that earmarks and entitlement programs are nothing more than a drain on tax paying U.S. citizens.

โ€œIf we are to have economic and personal liberty in the future then each of us must hold ourselves accountable for our own areas of responsibility and be informed. It is every citizenโ€™s responsibility and opportunity to read and understand the Constitution and the importance of the oath that our elected representatives take to โ€˜preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.โ€™ ”

Bailey is not new to the political process having served on Charles Countyโ€™s School Board for 16 years. He first ran for U.S. Congress in 2008 and stated that spending was out of control back then. โ€œThere was a time when I thought the deficit couldnโ€™t get much higher than the $7.8 trillion it was back then, but now it over $12 trillion with no end in sight,โ€ said Bailey.

When asked what he could assure voters if he was elected, he stated simply, โ€œto tell them the straight truth and never dodge an issue, no matter how painful the process might be.โ€

Bailey has a simple four step plan to solve the fiscal crisis โ€œThe first thing we need to do, that we will do is to balance the budget. Then we must fix Social Security. The next thing to do is to begin to pay off the national debt and finally, once that is done, we eliminate the Internal Revenue Service,โ€ said Bailey.

โ€œThe best way to preserve our American independence, national sovereignty, economic and personal liberty, sound money, lower government spending, individual responsibility and limited Constitutional government is for our federal leaders to obey the Constitution and the rule of law,โ€ said Bailey holding up his personal copy ofย  the Constitution which he keeps with him at all times.

Bailey expects this election to be interesting. โ€œThere is a possibility that we could have 200 freshmen Congressmen after this election and that would be refreshing,โ€ said Bailey.

Bailey, 56, has been married for 35 years and has four children. The Charles County native has been a self-employed businessman for over 30 years. In addition to his business and family, he has dedicated most of his adult life to making schools and the community a better place to work and live.

โ€œWhile I have been working with others to overcome the challenges in public education in order to provide greater opportunity for all students and their parents, our โ€˜representativesโ€™ in the federal government have increased the national debt ten fold.โ€

Bailey is such a firm believer that elected officials need to be accountable to those that elect them, that he openly publishes his personal telephone and email and states that any voter with a question is free to contact him at any time and he will personally respond.
