Friday, Aug. 6 was a busy day on Baynet Radio and TheBAYNET.com. Three different candidates took advantage an opportunity to present their candidacy and to explain where they stand on the issues to readers and listeners. One such candidate was Matt Morgan, Republican running for State Delegate in District 29A.

โ€œIโ€™m not a career politician and like you, I am frustrated by our professional politicians. Working class families and small businesses are the backbone of this nation and they have given enough,โ€ said Morgan. โ€œI am an ordinary citizen with common sense, good business experience and strong financial skills, qualities that are seemingly lacking in our government.โ€

Morgan stated that he will work to promote policies that limit new spending and prohibit unfunded mandates that inevitably result in new taxes, fees or surcharges. โ€œWe need to cut spending,โ€ said Morgan. โ€œMaryland does not have a revenue problem. Maryland has a spending problem.โ€

Morgan also thinks that none of Marylandโ€™s tax dollars should support illegal immigration in any way. โ€œWe need to improve transparency, and hold Government officials accountable for decisions they make,โ€ said Morgan.

The Tea Party Republican stated that he wants to do everything he can to stimulate jobs if elected. โ€œGovernment doesnโ€™t create jobs; businesses do. Lower taxes and pro-business legislation will spur job growth.โ€ He plans to work to repeal the corporate and sales tax increases enacted under the current administration. โ€œWe should promote fair, clear, and stable business regulations to give businesses the confidence to continue bringing jobs and investment to Maryland,โ€ said Morgan.

Morgan feels strongly that government should not be providing what able-bodied people can provide for themselves. โ€œI will work to limit entitlement spending, government programs that reward bad behavior and penalize the working class.โ€

He also favors working to improve the quality of life for Southern Marylanders. โ€œEfficient and convenient transportation can improve the quality of life for all of our citizens and increase economic opportunity,โ€ said Morgan. โ€œI will push to secure the funding necessary for the construction of a second span of the Gov. Thomas Johnson Bridge and to expand the public transit system by bringing rail to Southern Maryland,โ€ he continued.

โ€œSouthern Maryland’s great location, rural countryside and abundant waterways make the area a wonderful place to live. I should know, Iโ€™ve lived here my entire life – I was born and raised in Southern Maryland. I grew up on a tobacco farm outside of La Plata,โ€ said Morgan. However he feels that government has taken away a lot of the amenities that were available to him growing up in the area with its fiscally irresponsible spending and taxation to make up for the excesses of past spending habits of the professional politicians historically elected in Maryland.

โ€œBecause of my local perspective, conservative beliefs and my various skill-sets, I believe I can accurately and responsibly represent the citizens of District 29A in Annapolis. I am running because the status quo that has put this State in a $2.5 billion deficit simply isnโ€™t good enough anymore,โ€ said Morgan. โ€œEvery decision made in Annapolis impacts the lives of every resident in the state. Lately, it seems that these decisions are being made by professional politicians who are out of touch with whatโ€™s important to us. There is a substantial disconnect between our representatives and the average working-c
