Leonardtown, MD – The St. Maryโs County Library is pleased to host New York Times bestselling author and retired U.S. Army Captain Luis Carlos Montalvรกn and his service dog, โTuesday,โ for two programs to be held at the Lexington Park Library on Sunday, September 13. From 2 โ 4 p.m. Both programs are free and open to the public.
Montalvรกn and Tuesday will present their widely acclaimed childrenโs book โTuesday Tucks Me Inโ and talk about their special bond. The tale, told from Tuesdayโs point of view, tackles post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI) and living with disabilities. A dynamic K-9/handler demonstration of the types of tasks that Tuesday does to help Luis every day follows the reading. Both programs are open to all ages.
The next day, Monday, September 14, at 6 p.m., Montalvรกn and Tuesday will return for a program about their New York Times bestselling book โUntil Tuesday: A Wounded Warrior and the Golden Retriever Who Saved Him.โ Inspiration and education come together in this heartwarming celebration of the human-canine bond as they discuss their story of two wounded warriors who found salvation in each other. This program is for adults and teens ages 13 years and older.
Capt. Montalvรกn and Tuesday will stay after each program to sign books and meet with the audience. Both award-winning books, โUntil Tuesdayโ and ย “Tuesday Tucks Me Inโ will be available for purchase. Audience members may also bring their own books to be signed.
โWe are very excited to welcome Luis and Tuesday to St. Maryโs County for these two very special programs,โ said Mary Anne Bowman, Deputy Director for St. Maryโs County Library. โWe hope to educate and inspire our community by offering this opportunity to honor veterans by learning to better understand the benefits of service animals and the challenges veterans and theirย families face.โ
