A series of three meetings will be held this week in St. Mary’s County, with the goal of addressing gang growth and violence. The meetings will focus on concerns people have about possible gang activity in St. Mary’s County and specifically youth gang activity. The meetings will further address several questions:
-
How and why bullying, violence, and drive-by shootings can be happening in St. Mary’s County.
-
What community solutions we can employ?
-
Do you believe gangs are a problem in St. Mary’s County?
-
If so, what types of problems do gang members present in or around our community?
-
If gangs are an emerging issue how can we address it?
The hour-and-a-half meetings are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, June 4-6. Monday’s meeting will be held at the Lexington Park Library; Tuesday’s meeting will be held at the St. Mary’s Governmental Center in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room; and Wednesday’s metting will be held at the Mechanicsville Firehouse.
