LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — The St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission recently put a notice up on Facebook regarding a scam that may target residential customers.

The post reads:

 


“SCAM/FRAUD ALERT – To our Residential Customers

We have been notified that some customers are receiving phone calls/messages that their account is past due & their water will be shut off that day.

Please be assured, MetCom makes all notifications of disconnection due to delinquency, via the U.S. Mail. You will not receive a phone call or message from MetCom regarding your delinquent account, unless it is initiated by you.”
