Derrick A. Boyd
Leonardtown, MD – On June 7, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Snyder responded to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center in Leonardtown for an inmate-on-inmate assault.
When Snyder arrived on the scene, contact was made with the victim who advised, “during an argument the defendant identified as Derrick A. Boyd, 46, of Waldorf threw a cup of tea on him,” according to charging documents.
The victim also advised Boyd hit him with the cup in the process. When Snyder reviewed surveillance video of the incident, it was revealed that Boyd did throw a cup of tea on the victim. However, he did not hit the victim with the cup.
Boyd was charged with second-degree assault on a Department of Corrections inmate. At this time, Boyd does not have a scheduled court date.
Boyd faces a maximum jail sentence of 10 years and/or a maximum fine of $2,500.
