Trespassing โ€“ On Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 12:30am, TFC E. J. Page responded to the Wawa located
on Three Notch Road in Lexington Park for a report of an intoxicated subject laying in the parking lot of the
establishment. As TFC Page was en route to the location, St. Maryโ€™s County Emergency Communications
Center broadcasted an additional update to the situation advising that the subject was attempting to enter a
vehicle that did not belong to him. Upon arrival, TFC Page made contact with Joseph Aubrey Dement, 36, of
No Fixed Address, whom was located sitting on a curb in front of the establishment. Mr. Dement was observed
to be extremely intoxicated, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected on his person. Information
provided by additional units as well as an employee of Wawa indicated that previous contact had been made
with Mr. Dement at approximately 12:10am, at which time he had been asked to vacate the premises due to
causing a disturbance. Subsequently, Mr. Dement was arrested for trespassing and transported to the St. Maryโ€™s
County Detention Center. Mr. Dement was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the

Drug Arrest โ€“ On Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 11:24pm, TFC N. E. Gresko initiated a traffic stop on a
Hyundai in the area of Janet Lane just in from Maryland Route 712 for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the
vehicle, TFC Gresko identified the operator and other occupants of the vehicle. While speaking with the
occupants, the odor of burnt marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle. A probable cause search was
conducted on the vehicle and its occupants. The search of the vehicle revealed CDS in the driverโ€™s side and
middle console of the vehicle. Arrested for Possession of the vehicle was Steven Kartney Smith, 22, of Port
Republic. Mr. Smith was transported to the St. Maryโ€™s County Detention Center where he was charged
accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. (1182007236)

Drug Arrest โ€“ On Friday, July 22, 2011 at 7:00am, TFC A. J. Malaspina in response to a broadcast in
reference to a vehicle being operated in a reckless manner attempted to locate a purple Chevrolet truck. TFC
Malaspina observed the vehicle and monitored its actions before conducting a traffic stop in the area of
Maryland Route 235 and St. Johns Road. Upon approaching the operator, identified as Christopher Allen
Lathroum, 22, of Hollywood, TFC Malaspina observed him to have indicators of a subject potentially under the
influence. Mr. Lathroum was asked to exit the vehicle and perform Standardized Field Sobriety; he was
unsuccessful in passing the test and was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol /
Controlled Dangerous Substance. A search incident to arrest was performed on the vehicle revealing CDS and
CDS Paraphernalia. Mr. Lathroum was transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack for
processing and additional testing. Mr. Lathroum was transported to the St. Maryโ€™s County Detention Center
where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with District Court Commissioner.

Disorderly Conduct / Public Intoxication โ€“ On Saturday, July 23, 2011 9:58pm, TFC J. C. Hardesty
responded to the rear parking lot of Bay District Fire Department located on South Shangri La Drive in

Lexington Park for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, TFC Hardesty observed an altercation ensuing
