Nanjemoy, MD — Saturday, Seot. 20 was perfect weather for Nanjemoy Heritage Day, bringing a great turnout for the community event.
The event started with a parade and opening ceremonies and from there the throng moved inside where displays from local businesses, the Charles County Library and health fields awaited.
Outside were more displays, including one table with an impressive display of Native American spearpoints from the region dating back as far as 8,000 B.C. Pony rides, an antique car and tractor display were among the entrees.
Local politicians vying for election in the fall worked the crowd while they listened to the music of Kevin Grimes, feasted on the many selections. Local churches gave away clothing and others featured art and wares for sale.
The Ironsides Volunteer Fire Department, in addition to having the premeire float in the parade, also had fire engines and emergency equipment for the kids to enjoy.
