Busch Holds on for win #3 of the season!! Redeems himself at The Glen!!!
Dillon to run for Stewart this weekend at Michigan!!!
Hello Race fans, Iโm Buddy Long. And welcome to this weeks edition of NASCAR News.
It was 1 year ago in which NASCAR fans witnessed a finish that may only compare to the famed Daytona finish many years ago between Cale Yarborough and Donnie Allison. Kyle Busch had the lead, and potentially a win in hand at Watkins Glen International. All of the sudden oil laid down by Bobby Labonte slickens up the track. As Busch tries to negotiate the oily surface, heโs struck by the car of Brad Keselowski, sending him crashing into the wall. The remaining laps would see Keselowski and Marcos Ambrose wage a true Dirt Track war on the 7 turn road course with Ambrose eventually taking his second straight win at the Finger Lakes Track.
In Sundays Cheez It 355 at the Glen, those thoughts HAD to be going through the mind of Busch once again. Having a strong car throughout the 90 lap affair, Busch once again had Keselowski on his rear deck lid throughout the closing laps. However this time, the driver of the M&Mโs Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing survived every challenge at each turn, taking the victory on Sunday, his 3rd of the season. The victory also leap frogged Busch to 5th in the points over Dale Earnhardt Jr, who wrecked late in the event with teammate Kasey Kahne and finished 30th on the day. Following the lead duo across the stripe was Martin Truex Jr, the winner at the other Road Course event in Sonoma, California earlier in the year, while Carl Edwards and Juan Pablo Montoya completed the top 5.
Series points leader Jimmie Johnson came home 8th on the day, while Max Papis, subbing for the injured Tony Stewart, brought the Mobil 1 Chevy home 15th. Defending race winner Ambrose, a dominant car most of the day, was mired back in the pack following a pit stop, and was collected up in an accident, dropping the 2 time event winner to 31st on the day.
