HOLLYWOOD, Md. — Sunshine, live music and the smell of fresh fish filled the air April 3, 2026, as Toot’s Bar officially celebrated its reopening with a ribbon cutting that felt more like a community reunion than a ceremony.
Owners Timmy Quade and Greg Reynolds welcomed family, friends, local officials and longtime patrons to celebrate the renovations and the future of the historic Hollywood gathering spot.
“It’s only getting better day by day,” Reynolds told the crowd. “It takes time and it takes a lot of hard work. Thank you to everybody who came out and helped us.”
Both owners spoke during the ceremony, sharing their appreciation for the many community members who stepped up to help rebuild the space and prepare it for reopening.
Quade echoed that message, thanking the volunteers, friends and families who supported the project from start to finish.
“This really shows what community is all about,” Quade said. “We couldn’t have done this without everyone who showed up to help and believed in what we’re building here.”

A True Community Effort
The owners took time to personally recognize many of those who helped with the rebuild, including friends and volunteers who contributed long days of work painting, repairing and improving the building.
They also made sure to thank the wives and families who supported those efforts behind the scenes.
“Behind every one of us doing the work was a family supporting us,” Reynolds said. “We appreciate all of you just as much.”
Local elected officials, including Commissioners Mike Alderson Jr. and Mike Hewitt, presented proclamations recognizing the reopening and the importance of small businesses like Toot’s to the community.
Reynolds and Quade took over ownership of Toot’s in December 2025 with a shared goal of preserving the longtime bar’s legacy while making improvements that would help it continue serving the community. Since taking over, much of the renovation work has been completed with the help of friends, family and local supporters who volunteered their time, turning the project into what the owners described as a true community effort.

Plans the owners first discussed when taking over in December — including expanding outdoor entertainment and creating more space for live music — are now coming to life with the addition of the new stage and backyard gathering area.
Improvements Inside And Out
Renovations to Toot’s focused on refreshing the space while keeping the character longtime customers remember. Inside, updates included improved lighting, fresh paint and general repairs throughout the building. The lighting upgrades were designed to create a calmer, more inviting atmosphere while also improving overall visibility and comfort for guests.

The owners said the goal was to modernize the space while maintaining the familiar feel that regulars have always enjoyed.
Outside, improvements included a new outdoor bar, an expanded backyard gathering space featuring an outdoor pool table where guests can play while enjoying music, and a newly constructed stage. Southern Maryland singer Joe Cox had the honor of being the first to perform on the new stage, drawing cheers from friends, family and supporters who gathered to celebrate the moment.

“It was such an honor to be a part of such a special night,” Cox said. “Greg and his team were super helpful, and I can’t wait to see where this next chapter of Toot’s takes Southern Maryland.”
Among those in the crowd was fellow local musician Trace Haggard, who often performs with Cox at venues across Southern Maryland, highlighting the strong support from the local music community as Toot’s begins its next chapter. The owners said they love bringing in local talent and giving the community different entertainment options, noting the new stage is just the beginning of the memories they hope to help create there.

Reynolds told The BayNet the business already has live music scheduled for weekends throughout the year as they work to bring consistent entertainment to the venue. The owners also plan to host activities during the week and maintain a monthly calendar so the community can easily see what events are coming up.
As they continue building momentum, the owners are introducing a variety of events to keep things fresh, from Uno and beer pong tournaments to karaoke nights and other rotating activities, with plans to keep adding new ideas so there is always something different happening.
“We want people to come out, see what we’ve done and just have fun here,” Quade said.
Looking Ahead
Originally established in 1947, Toot’s Bar has long served as a local meeting place. Under the new ownership, the goal is to continue that tradition while expanding events, entertainment and activities.

“We’ve got a lot planned,” Reynolds said. “We play games, we’ve got live music, and we just want people to enjoy the space.”
Both owners said they are especially excited to share the newly improved space with the community and continue building on the relationships that helped bring the project together, turning what started as a vision between two community-minded friends into reality as Toot’s begins its next chapter.
As the ribbon was cut and photos were taken, the message of the day remained clear — Toot’s isn’t just reopening a building, it’s reopening a space where friendships can grow, memories can be made and the community can come together.
