LEONARDTOWN, Md. — MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital rang in 2026 with a special arrival on New Year’s Day, welcoming its first newborn of the year, Ariella Melody Stone, and creating a memorable milestone for a local family.

Ariella Melody Stone was born at 12:15 p.m. to Kaylynn Moore of St. Mary’s County and James Stone of Wilmington, North Carolina, becoming the first newborn delivered at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in the new year.

Being born on New Year’s Day is often seen as especially meaningful, symbolizing fresh beginnings, hope and the promise of the year ahead.
