No Seatbelt on Passenger Leads to Driver’s Arrest

At 6:29 p.m. April 9, TFC J. Linger of the Leonardtown trooper barrack stopped a vehicle on Route 5 at Mt. Wolf Road, Charlotte Hall, because the passenger was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver was identified as Timothy Daniel Prohaska, 43, of Mechanicsville. The passenger was issued a citation.

Due to several criminal indicators being observed, a consent search was conducted. A cellophane bag containing marijuana and a metal smoking device, with marijuana residue, were located inside an open cooler.

Prohaska was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. He was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bail review.
