PATUXENT RIVER NAVAL AIR STATION, Md. – If you live near the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, you may want to get some earplugs ready.
NAS Pax River issued a noised advisory for November 23 through December 3. It’s all due to practice flights.
Pilots are taking part in Field Carrier Landing Practices. These simulated carrier landings prepare pilots to learn how to land safely on aircraft carriers at sea. A safe land on an aircraft carrier requires a perfect combination of airspeed, altitude, and power.
NAS said the training is “essential for the precision and safety of our military men and women and the success of their mission. It is a highly complex skill that requires an intense period of training before pilots deploy.”
However, the training can be noisy. NAS said it takes every precaution to lessen the noise from the tests but resident may still hear it.
