PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A Prince Frederick man was arrested on a second-degree assault charge following a late-night incident on February 20, 2026.

Elmer M. Aquino Flores, 24, of Prince Frederick, is charged with second-degree assault in connection with the incident, which was investigated by the Maryland State Police.

Troopers responded at approximately 1:25 a.m. to the Prince Frederick Barrack for a reported assault that occurred shortly after midnight at a residence in Prince Frederick.

The victim reported that Aquino Flores, a roommate at the home, arrived intoxicated and began playing loud music. When confronted about the noise, an argument ensued. The victim told investigators that during the confrontation, Aquino Flores struck him once in the left side of the face with a closed fist.

The impact allegedly caused the victim to fall backward into a wall and onto the floor. Authorities observed visible injuries to the left side of the victim’s face, including a swollen cheek and a small cut near the left eyebrow. Emergency medical services evaluated the victim and transported him to CalvertHealth Medical Center for treatment.

Troopers later made contact with Aquino Flores at the residence. After being advised of his Miranda rights in Spanish, he agreed to speak with investigators. Aquino Flores admitted to striking the victim one time in the face and acknowledged that he realized his actions were wrong, according to court documents.

A witness at the home told authorities that Aquino Flores had arrived intoxicated and observed him strike the victim, causing him to lose balance and fall. The witness stated he separated the two individuals and no further assault occurred.

Aquino Flores was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center. He was later released on his own recognizance.

A hearing is set for March 24, 2026, in Calvert District Court.
