At 1:15 a.m. Jan. 6, TFC J. Linger of the Leonardtown barrack observed a vehicle traveling southbound Route 5 north of Mechanicsville Road that failed to reduce high beams on approaching traffic.
Upon contact with the driver, Gerald Richard Perry Jr., 42, of Great Mills, the officer detected an odor of alcoholic beverage.ย Perry was subsequently arrested for DUI.
A search incident to arrest revealed a ceramic smoking device in his jacket pocket. The smoking device contained burnt marijuana.
Perry was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia, and DUI. He was taken to the St. Maryโs County Detention Center and held pending a bail review.
