Beltsville Md.– July 4, According to news sources, one person is dead after the utility truck they were driving was hit by a CSX freight train early Tuesday morning.

Prince George’s County Police say the crash took place at around 3:40 a.m. in the 11500 block of Baltimore Avenue. The truck’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

Police say they are investigating how exactly the truck ended up on the train tracks as there is no access road from the industrial complex on one side of the tracks to Baltimore Avenue on the other side. Baltimore Avenue was closed between Naples Avenue and Garrett Avenue because of the incident but has since reopened.ย The train involved was number 5315.

The company’s owner says he’s had a two-person crew working in that area for around two months setting light poles in parking lots. Police confirm that only one person was in the truck during the crash.ย Police have not released any other information at this time.

More updates when they become available.ย
