At 1:15 p.m. Sunday, police and volunteer rescuers responded to a vehicle crash on US Route 301 at Marshall Corner Road (Route 227).
A red pickup driven by a female was heading north on Route 301, when she apparently ran a red light at Marshall Corner Road, and struck an SUV broadside in driver’s door as it traveled through the intersection on the green.
Volunteer firefighters had to cut the door off the SUV to get the driver out.
He was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to a regional trauma center. Two other passengers in the SUV were transported by ambulance to Civista Medical Center with minor injuries.
The investigation is being conducted by the Maryland State Police.
