According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโs Office, the blaze at the house on Sixes Road in Prince Frederick was initially reported around 2:40 a.m. after being discovered by a resident.
Thirty-five volunteer firefighters from Prince Frederick, Huntingtown, St. Leonard, Benedict and Hughesville were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze. The flames were brought under control in 10 minutes. According to Dfm. John Nelson, one adult male sustained a laceration to an arm and was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Damage to the two-story, single-family house was estimated at $100,000. Nelson reported the owner of the house is Jane Dern.
