Lexington Park, Md.—September 11, 2001 is a day that makes many Americans channel different emotions.

Mission Barbecue, a restaurant that has recently gained momentum with the public’s taste buds, has as its mission service to the ones that protect us every day. Pictures of law enforcement officers, firefighters, and everyday heroes hang on the walls of each restaurant.

On the 14 anniversary of 9/11, Mission Barbecue provided a free meal to every first responder who could report to the Lexington Park location.

Two main restaurant staff members who seemed extra excited to serve are first responders. In addition to whole Mission Barbecue staff were ready to provide the same service that the first responders provide us.

Community Ambassador Lauren Foor and General Manager James Bloomer at the Lexington Park location of Mission Barbecue where in high gear hoping to serve over 1,000 responders.

“Our mission is very simple, and that is ‘serve.’ We are so proud to be serving those who serve, we celebrate the American hero here. That is anyone who puts on a uniform and dedicates their lives to the service of protecting other people,” said Bloomer.

“This is a very important day for us. This is actually the anniversary of the Mission Barbecue brand being open. This is a very important time where we honor our daily heroes, our firefighters, police, EMS, those who make daily sacrifice for us. Those who give without expecting anything back are who we set out to serve on this day,” said Foor.
