St. Maryโs County Judge of the Orphanโs Court Charles โJenksโ Mattingly, III of Hollywood passed away Monday. Mattingly was elected to the position in November of 2006 and re-elected in 2010. He was a retired firefighter at Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
Mattingly, 68, served a long and distinguished career spanning more than 40 years as a volunteer with the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department, including past president and chief and served as its current chaplain. Mattingly served as president of the Maryland State Firemenโs Association from 2001 to 2002. His passing at 6:04 p.m. Monday is noted on the associationโs website today. He also was a member of the Hollywood Optimist Club and Knights of Columbus.
Mattinglyโs passing was also noted Tuesday morning by St. Maryโs County Commissioner Todd Morgan at the beginning of their regular meeting.
โJenksโ Mattinglyโs wife Catherine Anne died on July 1, 2010.
