HOLLYWOOD, Md. – Over 60 overdoses have been reported to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office between the months of January and August of this year, as reported on their Facebook page.

The majority of the cases involved white males between the ages of 18 and 25. Of the 63 reported cases, 47 were administered Narcan, a prescription medicine that blocks the effects of opioids and reverses an overdose.

Nine people have died, with five of the victims having been administered Narcan.

Forty-nine of the overdose cases involved heroin. Other drugs reported include Oxycodone, crystal meth, Methadone, Flexeril. Some cases involved combinations of heroin and Xanax, methadone and Percocet, and morphine and Percocet.

Lusby and Chesapeake Beach each had 14 cases, with other locations such as Prince Frederick, Huntingtown, St. Leonard, North Beach, Owings, Port Republic, Solomons, Dunkirk, Dowell and Broomes Island having also reported overdoses.
