Charles County, MD — The Secretary of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources has announced that oyster bars have been closed to all shellfish harvest in Charles, St. Mary’s, and Anne Arundel counties.
Affected areas include:
The Rock Point oyster bar in Charles County, Coots oyster bar in Anne Arundel County, and Gravelly Run oyster bar in St. Mary’s County
This closure applies to all individuals who catch oysters or clams recreationally or commercially.
The closing was requested by the individual counties Oyster Committees to protect spat-on-shell planted on this site until it is suitable for reopening.
The closure is effective at 12:01 a.m. September 19, 2019. The area is closed until further notice. A new notice will be issued when the area is reopened to harvest.
